SplashData Safe Desktop - Win7 wierd behavior

Bob Kirby Jun 18, 2014 02:32PM PDT

Recently finished migrating home computers to Win7, so now am on a truly "Windows 7 Network." Now, when I exit SplashID Safe, I obtain the error message "Error Creating Export File." I believe that means the application couldn't write out a backup file... and I suspect this has something to do with a feature regarding file access under Win7 that I just haven't learned about yet.

No other problems whatsoever with SplashID, clients... desktop or on Android phones, tablets, etc. I do suspect this is a Win7 security issue - not a SpashID Safe issue, but, can you assist me on this?

Thanks for contacting us. I have a feeling it’s just a permission issue.

Find the SplashID data folder:

Right click and select Properties.

Uncheck the Read Only box so that it is completely empty.

Click Apply, then OK.

Now try exiting SplashID Desktop and see if it works ok.

You keep giving the same answer, but it still does not resolve the problem. I've confirmed read-only/hidden/system attributes and NTFS security settings, they're all correct, and nothing makes a difference. This is Win7x64. Please stop guessing or answering based on your "feelings", and come up with a real answer. If you cannot come up with an answer that allows your software to work, please say "We understand this is a problem for some people, but have not been able to resolve it yet."

Hi Terry,

Ok, sorry that didn’t work for you. We understand this is a problem for some people, but have not been able to reproduce it yet.
