WIFI SYNC NOT WORKING ANYMORE

HARRENT Apr 26, 2014 04:48PM PDT

Don't really believe in coincidences and see other post for exact same problem: Always sync Galaxy Note 3 running Android 4.3 over local WiFi to Win7 PC and IP address is the same (just checked like 5 times) but it is NOT working?????

Thanks for contacting us. First, make sure you have the latest versions on both desktop and handheld:

https://splashid.com/personal/releasenotes.html

If so, please try the automatic desktop discovery sync, instead of trying to enter the IP address manually.

Here are some possible reasons for WiFi sync not working:

1. The email address does not match on the handheld client and the desktop client. Make sure it is exactly the same.

2. The passwords are not the same. Make sure they are exactly the same.

3. The desktop app is not running, or it is in a locked state. Login to the SplashID Desktop app.

4. The SplashID Desktop is not allowed through your firewall software. Make sure it is allowed.

5. The desktop computer and mobile device are not on the same WiFi network. Make sure WiFi is turned on on both devices and they are connected to the same network.

6. There is a VPN, virtual machine, or other network interface active. This can cause SplashID to latch onto the wrong network interface. Disable any other interfaces besides the WiFi network or the Ethernet if that is what the desktop computer is connecting to.

Please try exiting both apps, and restarting to see if that clears it up.

This is interesting. I have a similar problem with sync over wifi, except that it's more variable. There are three wifi networks I routinely connect to. I can sync over one of them, but not the other two. I've been trying to figure out what is different about that one network. Do you have any ideas? Are there router settings that enable or disable syncing?

Yes, it is likely that the routers that don’t work with SplashID WiFi sync have some sort of firewall preventing SplashID through, and that may be configurable through an admin panel.

The complexities of WiFi networking, firewalls, and anti-virus software are the reason we developed SplashID Cloud Services in version 7. It goes “over the head” of the local network.

I have had the same issue with wifi sync, but only in the last few days. I was able to sync these two on May 27, 2014. Today it

I am running Windows 7 and have version 7.2.4.760 installed. I also have Android version 7.2.2 Build 769.

Both are on my home wireless network (I have confirmed on my router).

The Android automatically detects the Windows version and the IP address is correct.

It will try for a while then say Sync Stopped.

I checked my router and my Windows 7 Firewall settings, I have allowed SplashID.

Both versions have the same ID and password. Both are unlocked and running at the time I try to sync.

Please advise.

If WiFi sync WAS working and it suddenly stopped, I would first ask myself if anything changed – network, software, or hardware-wise.

If not, I would just try rebooting both computer and mobile device and see if that helps.

If not, I would go over the troubleshooting guide again, and if that doesn’t help, I’d contact support for direct troubleshooting ideas:

Same problem, although I'm using a Mac OS X 10.10 & iOS 8.1.

I can see that the Desktop IP address on my mobile version of SplashID doesn't match the one my Mac's System Preferences is telling me; the final numbers in the sequence are wrong ie. ###.##.##.XX where XX is not a match. I would have thought the 'enter manual IP' would let me correct this, but instead of a text entry field, I just see a selection list populated with that single (wrong) IP to choose from. Is there a way to clear it and re-scan? I think the Mac's IP must have changed during the recent update to OS X 10.10 the other day, because this problem seems to coincide.

On the desktop, I'm running SplashID 7.2.2 build 780W & on the iPhone it's 7.2.6, build 799. Thanks!

Hi Gideon,

The manual IP address entry is done by tapping where it says Enter Manual IP, then you can enter it.

IF you’re seeing one listed, that must be your computer name being discovered automatically. Tapping that should take you to a sync screen and tapping sync should work.

Thanks Justin- Success! I hadn't realized that tapping the IP address listed on the Manual sync screen would allow me to edit, I was assuming it simply initiated the sync. This allowed me to correct it to match my Desktop, and then sync worked correctly again.

Hello all

I have the same issue with my new note. The automatic find does not work. The manual one says it has synced and I see the notice the 0 records have changed - none of the stuff on my desktop downloads to my galaxy tab. Passwords emails etc are identical and the sync does "work" just no records are synced. Help please.

thanks

Here are some possible reasons for WiFi sync not working:

1. The SplashID Safe email address does not match on the handheld client and the desktop client. Make sure it is exactly the same.

2. The master passwords are not the same. Make sure they are exactly the same.

3. The desktop app is not running, or it is in a locked state. Login to the SplashID Safe Desktop app.

4. The SplashID Desktop is not allowed through your firewall software. Make sure it is allowed.
OR, temporarily disable any firewall and antivirus software completely (including any OS built-in ones) and see if WiFi sync works fine then.

5. The desktop computer and mobile device are not on the same WiFi network. Make sure WiFi is turned on on both devices and they are connected to the same network. (Note: The computer can be connected to the network/router via a LAN wire instead of WiFi, that works too.)

6. There is a VPN, virtual machine, or other network interface active on your computer. This can cause SplashID Desktop app to latch onto the wrong network interface. Please disable any other interfaces besides the WiFi network or the Ethernet if that is what the desktop computer is connecting to.

Please try exiting both apps, and restarting your computer and your mobile device to see if that clears it up.

Please also try power-cycling your WiFi router/modem – disconnect from AC power for 10-15 seconds.

I have a related issue. My WiFI sync (iPhone and Windows 7 laptop ) has been working without problems until I exchanged my computer. The computer ID listed in the iPhone app does not match the name of my new computer, and the app does not find it although both are on the same network. I have tried to enter manual IP address but no improvement.

Thanks for contacting us. The computer ID listed in the SplashID iPhone app is obtained from the computer itself. This can be changed in system preferences. I’m not sure if you are on Mac or Windows, but could that be the correct computer ID?

Same problem but different details. Sync between my desktop (MS7) and phone (Droid) has failed. Connections all happen with no errors but clearly no records are synced.

Great mystery why this has worked well for 3 years then barfed on me.
