I sync my data via the cloud, however there is some records I do not want in the cloud, for instance credit cards with pins. Therefore I mark those records as local. However that means that record is local to that device. I use three locations, Phone, tablet & PC. The only way I've worked out to do this is to have a local record for each device, which is a bit silly. is there another way?
If not I'd like to make two suggestions.
1. Rather than make a record local to a device, how about making it sync local only. That way I can sync via the PC & WiFi to both devices any local records. That then means local records are safe as they get shared via the PC.
2. Create a view or alternatively a symbol of some sorts for the main view that show local records. At the moment this system relies on me remembering how many local records I have. For example if I were to buy a new phone I need to backup my local only records prior to transferring phone. How would I know which are local records without viewing them individually? This leads to a situation whereby I could loose records.
Thanks for contacting us. You’re right, I’m afraid, the only way to achieve this is to create local only versions on each device.
You can’t have a different sync method for certain records – sync method is global and changing it for just a few records is technically unfeasible.
Your suggestions to have a local only filter or flag of some sort is a good one though. We will take it into consideration when updating SplashID.
