The version on the website for Mac does not work for me because I installed the App store version previously. I ran into this when I bought a new Mac recently. However there is no App store SplashID showing now, let alone v8.
When or how, can I upgrade to V8 when I already have the App store version 7.2.2 version 780 build 780A?
Thanks for contacting us. We’re not planning to release version 8 on the Mac App Store, so you should switch to our “one and only” version 8 app.
Just export your current SplashID Desktop data first:
File menu > Backup
Save it to the desktop.
Then quit and delete the SplashID app from Applications and your Dock.
Then install SplashID 8:
Run SplashID 8 and login with the same email and password as before, and then import the backup from the first step, by double clicking it.
Note: If you had at one point used the non Mac App Store version, then switched later to the Mac App Store version, now you are switching back, there will likely be an old database there that SplashID picks up. So you should clear that up first:
First locate and rename the SplashID Data folder:
1) open the finder
2) click the Go menu, then Go to Folder
3) copy and paste in: ~/Library/Containers/com.splashdata.splashidmac/
4) hit enter
5) click the folder name, to make it editable, and add .old to the end, so it’s com.splashdata.splashidmac.old
Then launch SplashID 8, and go through the guided setup.
