I downloaded Version 8 and installed it, but when I tried to launch it to continue the setup I get an error message that says:
"You need to be connected to the internet to continue setup. Please connect to internet and try again."
I've tried uninstalling, renaming the "SplashID" folders, deleting the keys from the registry, but nothing seems to work.
I can re-install Version 7 and everything works correctly, but Version 8 will not work.
I know I am connected to the internet because I am searching this website for any troubleshooting steps I can find.
I'll revert back to Version 7 for now...
Thanks for contacting us. Is it possible that the SplashID Desktop is not allowed through your firewall software.
Make sure it is allowed, or temporarily disable any firewall and antivirus software completely (including any OS built-in ones) and see if activation works fine then.
Another possibility is that there is a VPN, virtual machine, or other network interface active on your computer. This can cause SplashID Desktop app to latch onto the wrong network interface. Please disable any other interfaces besides the WiFi network or the Ethernet if that is what the desktop computer is connecting to.
Please try exiting both apps, and restarting your computer and your mobile device to see if that clears it up.
Please also try power-cycling your WiFi router/modem – disconnect from AC power for 10-15 seconds.
