problems with syncing

Rich Oct 17, 2014 11:30AM PDT

I have been using splash shopper for many years, through palm os, then blackberry, now ios. the items will not sync and it keeps adding more users to my desktop. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck. The app also keeps crashing and I no longer have any "more" items. I use this on my iphone and ipad. any help?

Thanks for your patience. At long last, SplashShopper 4 is out for iOS. Due to the upgrade issues some people were having, we released this as a new app on the store so it won’t overwrite your old version.

You can get it on the App Store here:

We have set the price to FREE until 10/23 so that you can get this upgrade at no charge. After that it will be $1.99.

This version also fixes the problem of adding multiple users to the SplashShopper desktop user menu on sync. This version will add only one version and continue to sync with that user going forward.

I just downloaded (and paid for since it wasn't marked as an "update") the new version, and continue to have exactly the same issue with no synching. I have a custom list that does not appear in the handheld, and changes to the supplied lists aren't being synched either.

If you have your customized lists in the SplashShopper desktop, export your list from the old user in SplashShopper desktop:

File menu > Export > SplashShopper vShop

Repeat for other lists that you need to transfer.

Download the new SplashShopper iOS app (if you have not already):

Then run the new iPhone app, and do a sync with the SplashShopper desktop.

Then switch the user in the SplashShopper desktop user menu to the new (properly working) device name.

Now import your vSH files, creating new lists. Then sync again.

If your data is in the old iOS app only, and you are able to run the old app, you can email the items to yourself to be imported into the new SplashShopper 4 app. Here’s how:

1. Open your old SplashShopper app
2. Select the list you want to transfer, and stay in the All items view
3. Tap the “mail” icon near the top of the screen (by the search icon)
4. Enter your own email in the to field and email it to yourself
5. Open the email when you receive it and tap the “All items” link to import into the new SplashShopper
6. Repeat for other lists if needed

Thanks. That worked. Now ... is there any way to delete the 16 usernames that are incorrect from my desktop app?

Yes, it depends which version you are using though:

- Windows
- Mac
- Mac App Store

I also would LOVE to delete the multiple users from my desktop application. I'm using Windows 7. I saw another post with instructions for deleting but the instructions didn't seem to be for Windows 7.

For Windows…

Find this folder:

My Documents\SplashData\SplashShopper\

Rename it to SplashShopper.old. That will hide it from the SplashShopper desktop, but not erase the data in case we need to get it back somehow.

Then delete the SplashShopper entries from your registry. To
do this:

1. Go to your Start Menu and choose Run
2. Type in “regedit”
3. Go into the directory HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/SplashData/
4. Delete the folder in that directory called SplashShopper Desktop

Then launch the SplashShopper desktop, enter your registration code, and go through the guided setup again to connect the iPhone.

How can I remove the additional users on my Mac? I am running OS 10.10.

Following your directions, I was successful in removing all the old "User" data, and by selecting "Handheld overwrites Desktop" now have my lists up to date. I still cannot create a Quick List. When I click the + on the upper right corner, a window opens that says "New Quick List", next a line, then Cancel or OK. Nothing can be entered there. This is a very important function for me and I am most anxious to have it restored. Thank you.

Shouldn't this "upgrade" been part of an update? I have spent so much money with Splashdata because I love the product. I purchased it for the palm, windows phone, and now iOS. I can't even use my Splash Money. So since I didn't know that an upgrade/update was available I have to pay another $1.99 for it to sync with my desktop?

Hi Sherri,

Sorry, a free update was not a possibility due to a technical issue that would have caused our users more pain on upgrade.

SplashMoney 5 is in beta testing as of yesterday if you are interested. Or just wait a few more days for the public release.

Thank you for update. I would be very interested in SplashMoney 5! I'm going to purchase SplashShopper today and I'll keep you posted if there's any issues. Thanks again!
