Synch Issue

George Rollison Mar 14, 2015 07:11PM PDT

I am using the following versions of SplashID Safe on the specified devices:

SplashID Safe Version 8.0.1.833 on an iMac running OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.2
SplashID Safe Version 8.0.6 on an iPhone 5S running IOS 8.2
SplashID Safe Version 8.0.6 on an iPad Air running IOS 8.2

1. I added a new entry on my iPad a week ago. 138 total entries. Many with custom icons I have collected.
2. Both my iMac and my iPhone are only showing 137 total entries. They do not have the entry I added on my iPad a week ago.
3. All three devices are set for Cloud Synch.
4. Not only are my iMac and iPhone missing the new entry from my iPad, but all of my custom icons are screwed-up across all three platforms. For instance, the Apple icon I had attached to my Apple iTunes account is now attached to my Macy's account. My Macy's account has the icon I had attached to my Washington Post account. My Washington Post account has the icon I had attached to my Quicken account. The list of screw-ups goes on and on. The screw-ups have been synched across all devices.

What gives? This is extremely/EXTREMELY frustrating!

Thanks for contacting us. When you added that record on the iPad, was the iPad offline? We’re trying to trace back the steps on this missing record issue.

As for the screwed up icons, when did they go bad? Did you just recently switch to cloud sync, or was it working fine until you added a third device, etc?

I am using the following versions of SplashID Safe on the specified devices:

SplashID Safe Version 8.0.2.836 on an iMac running OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.2
SplashID Safe Version 8.0.6 Build 830on an iPhone 4 running IOS 7.1.2 (11D257)

I changed passwords in two existing records and they don't get synchronized into iCloud, i.e. in my iPhone.
One record is crashed in my iMac SplashID but shown correctly in my iPhone SplashID.

I'm getting afraid about the reliability of the application and the sync mechanism.

I added the new record on my iPad. I don't recall but I may have been offline when I added the record. I am certain I have added other records on my iPad previously while offline and they have always synched just fine. In any event, all of my devices are online, now, and I just added a new record on my iMac. It immediately synched across all three devices (iMac, iPad, and iPhone) with no problems. However, that one record I added last week on the iPad just will not synch. It is not/NOT marked local.

I have had the iMac for 4-5 years, the iPad for a year-and-a-half, and the iPhone for over a year. I've been running SplashID Safe on all of them for some time. None of the devices were recently added. I have been using cloud synch for some time, now, also. No recent addition of devices or change to synch method. The icons went bad within the past week.

Can you test adding a new record on the iPhone or iPad now and see if it will sync?

What if you edit the record that did not previously sync?

One workaround that seems to be working while we investigate is to create the missing record on the desktop app, then delete the iOS app(s) and reinstall, login again, and that should clear it up.

I edited the record that previously did not synch. It still did not synch. I didn't have anything else to add, at this time, and I am in a bit of a time crunch. I created the record on my iMac and then deleted the app on my iPad and iPhone. I reinstalled the app on both the iPad and iPhone and everything seems to be fine as far as the record count. The previously missing record is now on all devices. The icons are still screwed-up.

As a test, when you now add a new record on the iOS app, does it sync to all other devices?

My desktop and iPhone seem to be syncing, but only partially. Only 7 records were being shared. Even online, only 7 records are showing. I created 19 on my iPhone and set it to us iCloud. How can I get all the records to sync?

We have a new build of SplashID that has a “force cloud sync” option that may help your situation. Would you like to beta test it?

If so, contact me at beta@splashdata.com and let me know your Apple ID (the email you use for App Store purchases).
