Fingerprint unlock on Android devices

Last Updated: Sep 29, 2016 03:06AM PDT
Requirements: SplashID Safe Android version 8.1.2 or newer (Release date: 09.21.2016)
1. Works on Android devices (phones or tablets) with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) or above.
2. Your Android device should have fingerprint hardware capability.
3. You should have at least one fingerprint enrolled on your device. Please consult your phone documentation to enroll fingerprints.
4. To enable fingerprint unlocking in SplashID Safe Android app, please go to Settings -> Security Settings screen.

Please note
fingerprint unlocking in SplashID Safe Android app is supported on Android 6.0 Marshmallow (or higher, such as Android OS 7.0 Nougat) that make use of Google's Android technology for fingerprint recognition. Some mobile device manufacturers, notably Samsung, had implemented their own technology for fingerprint recognition much before it was available natively in Android OS. Fingerprint recognition on these devices does not rely on Android's fingerprint technology even after an upgrade to Android Marshmallow.
Due to this until these devices get updated to use Android's core fingerprint technology, SplashID's fingerprint unlocking won't work on them. Some affected Samsung Android phone models include - Galaxy S5, Note 4, Note Edge.

If you have any issues with our new Fingerprint function on your Android device, please submit a support ticket for this HERE (making sure to mention exact device brand, model, Android OS version).
