Mac OS: All my data is gone after upgrading

Last Updated: Feb 26, 2014 02:45PM PST

This may be due to Apple's sandboxing restrictions, which do not allow us to retrieve data from custom data locations. You can import the latest backup file from one of two locations:

1) If you set a custom backup location, the backup VID files would still reside there.

2) If you did not set a custom backup location, the backups were moved to:

~/Library/Containers/com.splashdata.splashidmac/Data/Library/SplashID Safe/Backup/

...IF you are using the Mac OS 10.8 or later version. The non-sandboxed 10.6 and 10.7 version keeps the old location:

To import the VID backups from either of these locations, open the Finder and go to the specified folder, then look for the newest backup file or the one with the largest file size. Then double click the vID file to import it into the SplashID Desktop.

Tip: Since the Library folder is hidden on Mac OS 10.7 or later, the easiest way to get to the backup folder is to

1) Open the finder

2) Click the Go menu, then Go to Folder

3) copy and paste the full path above.

Alternatively, if you have the data on a mobile device, just do a WiFi sync with that device and the data will transfer back to the new desktop app.
